Liverpool: Fans woke up to a winter wonderland on Sunday. Heavy snow overnight has everyone wondering if today’s big match against Manchester United at Anfield will go ahead.

The Met Office had already issued an amber weather warning for the area, predicting snow and freezing rain that could mess with transport and other services.

Some places in the UK were expecting up to 40 centimeters of snow, putting the Premier League clash at risk. Liverpool City Council’s Safety Advisory Group is meeting this morning to figure things out, with fan safety being the top priority.

Snow and rain could make it tough for fans to get to the game. If you’re heading to Anfield, it’s a good idea to pack warm clothes, food, water, blankets, and ice scrapers.

Public transport might be a hassle too, with routes possibly disrupted or closed. It’s pretty chilly out there, around 3C, but it feels even colder.

To make matters worse, all trains to and from Liverpool Lime Street were cancelled until about noon due to a problem at the depot, especially affecting routes to London.

Liverpool Airport also had to shut its runway this morning because of the snow. Luckily, the snow should stop falling before the match, which kicks off at 4.30pm.

Fans remember the last time a match was postponed. Just last month, the Merseyside derby was called off due to Storm Darragh, which also had an amber weather warning. That decision came just three hours before the scheduled kick-off.
