Manchester: West Ham just can’t catch a break lately. They’ve been hammered twice in a week, and it’s getting tough to watch. This time, they lost 4-1 to Manchester City, and it’s hard to say if City were just on fire or if West Ham were doing their usual thing against the big teams.

It felt like a bit of both, honestly. Savinho and Erling Haaland were in the mood to score, and West Ham’s defense just couldn’t keep up. Lopetegui looked pretty dejected on the sidelines, and you can’t blame him. Those defensive mistakes are piling up, and they could cost him his job.

At first, West Ham looked decent. They pressed City and seemed to have a plan. But then, a freak deflection off Coufal led to the first goal, and it was a tough pill to swallow. Still, they managed to regroup for a while, taking advantage of some sloppy passes from City.

Niclas Fullkrug was a bright spot, causing some trouble for City’s defense with his aerial skills. But they really missed Jarrod Bowen, who’s out for a couple of months. There were chances that could’ve turned the game around, but they just couldn’t finish.

Lopetegui was visibly frustrated, especially when his players didn’t get back into position after a missed chance. You could see he was hoping for an equalizer when Paqueta came close, but then the defense fell apart again.

Haaland scored twice, and it was just too easy for him. The Hammers’ defense looked shaky, and it was clear they were struggling. Even with some changes in the lineup, the same issues kept popping up.

After the loss to Liverpool last week, Lopetegui knew they had to tighten up, but it seems there’s still a lot of work to do. The City fans were even chanting about him getting sacked, which can’t feel good.

Is Lopetegui on the hot seat? We’ll see in the coming days, but at least Fullkrug managed to score a late goal to give the fans a little something to cheer about.
