Stratford: A heartbreaking incident occurred when a 72-year-old man named Brian Mitchell fell onto the Tube tracks. He was hit by four trains, which is just devastating.

Brian had been visiting friends and fell about 0.7 meters onto the live tracks. He was stuck there for over five minutes, trying to get back up but couldn’t manage it.

Sadly, he wasn’t seen by the CCTV or the driver of the first train. It seems the train was running on automatic, which might have distracted the driver.

This tragic event took place on Boxing Day 2023, around 2:45 PM. Brian had traveled from Stanmore and stumbled forward, leading to the accident.

According to an investigation, another driver waiting on the platform may have also distracted the first train driver as it approached.

Even the second driver didn’t see him, as Brian was lying between the platform edge and the nearest rail. A third driver thought he saw an inflatable doll instead of a person.

Shockingly, the fourth driver was allowed to pull in, even though a customer service assistant knew someone was on the tracks by that time.

A toxicology report showed that Brian had a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit, which might have played a role in the incident.

Lilli Matson, from Transport for London, expressed condolences to Brian’s family and mentioned that they are working on recommendations to improve safety.

This is a developing story, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
