Ilford: A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday when a pedestrian in her sixties was struck by a car on Eastern Avenue. The collision was serious, involving other vehicles and even a building.

This all went down around 4:10 PM, and it brought out a huge response from emergency services, including the London Air Ambulance and the Fire Brigade. They really rushed to help.

Sadly, despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead right there at the scene. The police have informed her family, and they’re getting support from specialist officers during this tough time.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene and wasn’t arrested, which is a bit surprising. Now, detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are on the case, looking into what happened.

They’re asking anyone who saw the accident or has dash cam footage to come forward. Eastern Avenue is a major route, so there might be witnesses out there.

If you have any info, you can reach out to the Serious Collision Unit at 0208 246 9820 or call 101 and mention reference 4459/07DEC. Every little bit helps.
