London: The thick fog is really messing things up at the airports. Travelers are facing delays and cancellations, and it looks like it might stick around for a bit.

Stansted Airport had a rough Saturday, with flights getting delayed. Heathrow, Luton, and Manchester weren’t much better, either. Nats, the air traffic control folks, said they’re keeping some air restrictions in place to keep everyone safe.

Even though the weather is getting a little better, the fog is still causing issues. A spokesperson from Nats mentioned that visibility is low, so they have to be cautious.

Sunday is expected to be a busy day at Gatwick, with 769 flights scheduled. But the Met Office warned that some areas might see visibility drop to just 100 meters due to the fog.

One couple, Kiera and her husband, had to extend their Christmas visit to the Isle of Man because their flight to Gatwick got canceled. They were supposed to fly out Friday night, but after a three-hour delay, they were told there wouldn’t be another flight until Sunday.

Kiera said, “Our five days has turned to seven, it looks like. It’s frustrating, but I heard some families are having it worse.”

If your flight is delayed for over two hours, you might be eligible for some help, like food or a place to stay. The Met Office also advised drivers to take it easy on the roads, as visibility is poor.

Looking ahead, the UK should see some brighter weather later on Sunday, but it’s not all good news. Snow and rain are expected to roll in just in time for New Year’s Eve.

Scotland is under a yellow weather warning for snow and rain next week, with heavy downpours likely. They’re predicting significant disruption as we approach Hogmanay.

So, if you’re traveling, keep an eye on the weather and check your flight status. It’s a bit of a mess out there!
