Sutton: Recently, some folks in Sutton have found themselves on the tax defaulters list. It’s a bit of a scandal, really. From delivery drivers to accountants, several local businesses and individuals have been called out.

Every three months, HM Revenue and Customs releases this list to name and shame those who’ve messed up their tax reports. The latest list came out in late November 2024, and it’s not pretty for some.

Many of these people are facing hefty fines for either messing up their tax returns on purpose or just ignoring their tax duties altogether. For instance, there’s a telecoms engineer from Cressingham Grove who got hit with a fine of over £43,000 after some serious tax discrepancies were found.

Then there’s Redwan Hossain, a contractor and delivery driver from Montacute Road, who was fined nearly £22,000 for his tax issues. Heating engineer David Peter Owens also made the list, with a fine of over £14,000 for unaccounted tax.

And let’s not forget Sivasubramaniam Nimalraj, an accountant from Wallington, who faced a whopping fine of over £36,000. It’s a tough lesson for these folks, and it’s a reminder to everyone to keep their tax affairs in order.
