Yesterday at King’s Cross Station, Londoners were treated especially as the famous girl group Sugababes unexpectedly performed live for commuters. Emerging from a billboard, Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhan Donaghy, the original trio delighted the audience with their hit “Push the Button.” Part of a campaign for Sky Broadband, this surprising show highlighted their new “One Touch Switch” service, which allows switching providers as simple as, well, pushing a button.
The interactive billboard urged onlookers to press a big button, which enchanted the board into a stage for the Sugababes’ performance. Some fans even posted the surprise on social media, one Londoner tweeting, “The Sugababes just serenaded me with ‘Push the Button’—unbelievable!”
To commemorate the release of their 24/7 customer switching support, Sky Broadband teamed up with the band rebranding them as the “Suga Broadband Babes”. Sky’s new service guarantees that consumers may make the switch with a single touch and get help any time of day, so streamlining the sometimes difficult process of changing broadband providers.
Along with cheeky references to their past lineup changes, the campaign features a lighthearted video of the Sugababes “pitching” the collaboration to Sky. Keisha makes jokes in the video about the group having “experience with switching,” tying in the band’s own development with Sky’s easy transitions.
The new One Touch Switch system from Sky Broadband reflects their research findings: a third of Brits have found it challenging to switch broadband providers; some have spent up to five months considering the change. But 46% of respondents said they would be more likely to change if they were not obliged to call their former supplier. The One Touch Switch removes this obstacle by managing the process directly with Sky, so negating the need to get in touch with the current supplier.
Amber Pine of Sky said, “We know a thing or two about switching, just like the Sugababes! For this reason we have introduced Sky Broadband’s focused 24/7 switching support service. Real people, day or night, can assist consumers.
Sky Broadband is now providing its Full Fibre 150 package at its lowest-ever £27 per month for a 24-month contract to those thinking about a change. The promotion runs until December 3, so now is a good time to investigate choices with quicker speeds and consistent support.
The Sugababes and Sky Broadband have reminded Londoners that changing providers or through nostalgia—that making a change doesn’t have to be difficult—and occasionally it can even result in a free concert.
