This weekend, Southern trains through Croydon will face cancellations and diversions due to essential engineering work
Croydon: This weekend, some Southern trains are going to be a bit of a mess. There’s planned engineering work, so expect cancellations, diversions, and even bus replacements.
The disruptions will kick off on Saturday, January 11, and run through Sunday, January 12. If you’re planning to travel, it’s a good idea to check the details ahead of time.
Basically, all lines between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport will be closed. On Saturday night, from 11:45 PM until the end of service, buses will take over for trains on several routes.
These include the East Croydon to Gatwick Airport and Horsham routes, as well as others like Redhill to Reigate. Plus, the 11:36 PM train from Tonbridge to Redhill won’t be running.
Then on Sunday, it gets even trickier. No trains will run all day between East Croydon and several key destinations, including Redhill and Gatwick Airport. There will be a limited service between London Victoria and East Croydon.
There’s a diverted train service from London Victoria to Gatwick Airport, but it’s calling at Clapham Junction, so keep that in mind. Replacement buses will also be running on various routes, so you’ll have some options.
Just a heads up, the 12:23 AM train from Redhill to Tonbridge won’t be running either, and the 1:10 AM train from London Victoria to Brighton will end at East Grinstead instead.
Also, on Sunday, there’s more engineering work between Clapham Junction and Watford Junction, which means no Southern trains will be running between Shepherd’s Bush and Watford Junction. So, if you’re traveling, look for alternative routes to get where you need to go.
