This weekend, Southern trains through Croydon will face cancellations and diversions due to essential engineering work
Croydon: This weekend, some Southern trains are going to be a bit of a mess. They’re cancelling, diverting, or even replacing some services with buses. It’s all because of some planned engineering work.
The disruptions will kick off on Saturday, January 4, and run through Sunday, January 5. So, if you’re planning to travel, you might want to check the details.
On Saturday night, they’ll be doing work between Arundel, Angmering, Littlehampton, and Barnham, which means all lines will be closed. The 11:16 PM train from London Victoria to Chichester will stop at Angmering, and you’ll need to hop on a bus to get to Chichester.
Then on Sunday, the work continues between New Cross Gate, Crystal Palace, and West Croydon. The 12:40 AM train from London Victoria to Norwood Junction will also stop at Crystal Palace, with a bus taking you from there to Norwood Junction.
All day Sunday, there will be replacement buses running between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace. Trains will still run between London Victoria and Crystal Palace, but they’ll take a different route through West Norwood.
Also, if you’re traveling between London Bridge, Caterham, and Tattenham Corner, expect some changes to the timetable as trains will be diverted via Tulse Hill. And don’t forget, buses will replace trains between Epsom and Dorking too.
Lastly, there’s some engineering work happening until about 9:20 AM on Sunday between Willesden Junction and Watford Junction, which means no Southern trains will be running between Clapham Junction and Watford Junction until then.
