South London: A Metropolitan Police officer has been let go after a serious allegation of sexual assault. Detective Constable Kamal Baldeo faced a misconduct hearing and was found guilty of gross misconduct.

The whole thing kicked off back in May 2021 when Sussex Police started looking into claims that Baldeo had non-consensual sexual activity in Brighton after meeting someone online. It’s a pretty serious situation.

Even though the criminal investigation wrapped up in July 2022 with no further action against him, the Met still decided to dig deeper. They felt it was important to hold him accountable.

When the hearing wrapped up on January 8, it was clear that Baldeo’s actions didn’t meet the standards expected of police officers. Detective Chief Superintendent Clair Kelland emphasized how seriously they take these allegations.

She praised the complainant for her bravery in coming forward and stressed that the investigation was thorough. It’s good to see that the Met is committed to maintaining high standards among their officers.
