Harrow: So, six people just got sentenced for a really awful attack on a young woman. It all went down last February when she was lured to a spot where she thought she was going to a roller skating event.

Instead, she was brutally attacked. The police got called after reports of a robbery and a serious assault. When they arrived, they found the 18-year-old with some pretty deep stab wounds.

Turns out, this was a transphobic hate crime. Before the attack, the victim had been targeted with nasty comments in a Snapchat group. It’s just heartbreaking.

On January 16, the attackers were sentenced. One of them, Summer Betts-Ramsey, got over eight years in prison for her role in the stabbing. The others, including three 18-year-olds, received three years each for causing grievous bodily harm.

There was also a 17-year-old girl involved who will be sentenced later, and a 16-year-old boy who got an 18-month supervision order. It’s just a mess, really.

Detective Inspector Nicola Hannant spoke out about how horrible this attack was, especially since it was motivated by the victim being transgender. She mentioned how premeditated it all was, with the attackers planning everything out and even trying to hide their identities.

It’s a tough situation, but hopefully, the victim can start to heal and move on from this nightmare.
