Ealing: Prince William recently visited Centrepoint, a charity focused on helping young people facing homelessness. He’s been a patron for 20 years and wanted to see how they’re making a difference.
During his visit, he met some inspiring young folks who’ve turned their lives around. They’ve faced tough times but are now studying at university or starting their own businesses. It’s pretty amazing!
William joined in on a game of table football with the residents. He joked about the seriousness of the game, saying he didn’t want to let anyone down. It was a fun way to connect with them.
One young woman, Bethany, shared her story of how Centrepoint helped her escape homelessness when she was just 17. Now, she’s studying at the London School of Economics. She credited the charity for being her safety net.
William praised her journey, calling her a shining example of what support can do. After a friendly match that ended in a draw, he moved on to join a boxing session, getting into the spirit of things with some jabs and hooks.
He also met Nora, a 21-year-old who started her own hair salon despite her struggles. He found her story truly inspiring and stressed the importance of early support for young people.
William pointed out that the “cliff edge” of homelessness is steep, but with the right help, it can lead to a brighter future. Centrepoint’s CEO praised him as a true ambassador for the cause.
This visit is part of his ongoing project, Homewards, aimed at tackling homelessness over five years. A spokesperson from Kensington Palace mentioned that he’s focused on taking action in various locations and will draw inspiration from what he learned at Centrepoint.
