Harrow: A mum who switched from law to fashion is sharing her best tips for finding that perfect prom dress. Michelle Levy, 53, started her journey over 12 years ago with Silhouette London Limited, helping countless teens nail their prom looks.

She used to be a solicitor in London, but now she’s all about ballgowns. Michelle says many teens start looking for dresses as early as October, but January and February are the busiest months. She believes that starting your search five months before prom is the way to go.

According to her, shopping early means you get the best selection of styles and sizes. Plus, you can avoid the stress of last-minute shopping. It’s also a chance to plan your whole look, from the dress to the accessories.

Michelle got into fashion because she was frustrated with the options available for her daughters. She found that dresses were either too childish or too grown-up, and the prices were often sky-high. That’s when she decided to fill that gap in the market with Silhouette London.

Her shop focuses on affordable, stylish prom and party dresses, and she’s dedicated to making the shopping experience personal and enjoyable for every young person who walks through her doors.

Next year, she’s hosting a Prom Pop-Up Shop in Notting Hill during the February half-term. It’s a great chance for teens to try on dresses in person. Plus, Michelle is also giving back by raising money for Teens Unite, a charity that supports young people with cancer.

She sells pre-loved dresses to help fund the charity, making it a win-win for everyone involved. It’s all about being sustainable while supporting a great cause.
