Mikel Arteta is confident Raheem Sterling will shine in the Tottenham derby as Arsenal faces injury challenges.
London: So, Mikel Arteta is really putting his faith in Raheem Sterling for the big match against Tottenham. With Bukayo Saka out for a while, it’s Sterling’s time to shine.
Arsenal’s been hit hard with injuries lately. Saka had surgery on his hamstring, and he won’t be back until at least March. That’s a tough blow for the team.
Arteta has tried out a few players on the right wing since Saka got hurt. Now, Sterling might just be the one to step in when they face Spurs on Wednesday night.
He came on for Gabriel Jesus during the FA Cup match against Manchester United, and Arteta liked what he saw. It sounds like he’s ready to give Sterling a shot to start against Tottenham.
Sterling had a knee injury too, but he’s fit again. Arteta was pleased with his performance against United and thinks he can really contribute.
“He’s used to this kind of pressure,” Arteta said. “We need him, and he can bring a lot to the team.”
Arsenal’s coming off a rough week, having lost to Manchester United and Newcastle. It’s a tough spot, but Arteta believes they can bounce back.
He mentioned that while they’re in a similar position in the league as last year, the circumstances are different. The team has faced a lot of challenges, but that’s helping them grow.
“We’ve had to deal with a lot already this season, and that’s a positive for us,” he added. “The team is adapting, and even if the results aren’t what we want, we’re learning.”
