Merton: A south London borough, famous for hosting the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, has just been named one of the best places to live in the UK. The Times ranked it fourth, right after Richmond and Sutton.

They looked at a bunch of data, like school ratings, crime rates, and the number of parks. It turns out, 26% of schools in Merton are rated as outstanding, which is pretty impressive.

There are 15 outstanding schools in total, including seven primary schools and five secondary schools. Some of the top-rated ones are Wimbledon Park Primary and St Mark’s Church of England Academy.

Now, Merton isn’t the cheapest place to live. The average house price is around £579,000. But hey, it’s a lovely area with lots of green spaces like Wimbledon Common and Ravensbury Park.

Plus, it’s super convenient for getting into Central London, thanks to several train stations and two Underground lines. In the summer, Merton really shines with the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, where everyone enjoys strawberries and cream.

Sutton, another nearby area, has a great dining scene with popular restaurants and cafes. The Trafalgar pub has even won awards for being the best pub in South West London multiple times.

Overall, Merton has been recognized not just by The Times but also by The Telegraph as one of the best places to retire. Sounds like a great spot to settle down!
