A man was taken to a trauma hospital after an accident at a Plumstead construction site, but his injuries are not life-threatening
Plumstead: A man had a rough day at a building site when he got hit on the head by something while in a lift shaft. This happened on Wednesday, and he was quickly taken to a major trauma hospital.
The accident took place at a site where they’re building a new college and some flats on Plumstead Road. It was a big deal, with emergency services rushing to the scene, even calling in an air ambulance.
Luckily, the injuries aren’t life-threatening, according to the police. They sealed off the lift shaft afterward to keep anyone else from getting hurt.
The whole incident lasted about an hour. The London Ambulance Service got the call at 8:51 AM about what was going on at the junction of Plumstead Road and Villas Road.
They sent a bunch of resources, including ambulance crews and even the air ambulance. The first crew showed up in just five minutes, treated the man, and then took him to a trauma center.
Firefighters also came to help out the police and paramedics. They sent two fire engines and some rescue units to make sure everything was safe, and they wrapped things up by 9:52 AM.
According to plans shared with Greenwich Council, this construction is for a fancy new building for Greenwich College, which will have five stories. It’s also going to include 294 new homes and is expected to open in September 2025.
