London Greggs Bans Headphones and Phones at the Counter

London Greggs Bans: Popular bakery chain Greggs has implemented a new policy at some London locations to improve customer service. Customer who don’t put away headphones or phones while ordering may be denied service.

Signs in select stores, including Croydon’s Greggs, announce the change. “When in queue, remove your headphones/AirPods and come off phones, or we may have to refuse service.” Greggs says this will improve staff communication and line flow, especially during peak hours.

One employee explained, “We try to serve everyone quickly, but it’s tough when customers can’t hear us due to headphones or are too busy on their phones.” This Croydon store is among the first to implement the rule, despite previous staff and customer complaints.

The new policy has sparked debate on social media, but some customers and employees agree that restricting phone use during transactions can improve respect and efficiency.

Greggs has previously been in favour of improving the customer experience. To get a sausage roll or a coffee at London Greggs, customers have to put away their mobile phones and headphones.
