Babur, Forest Hill
Babur has been a staple in Forest Hill since 1985 and has racked up quite a few awards over the years.
This year, it made it to SquareMeal’s Top 100 London Restaurants for 2024. Pretty cool, right?
Known for its gourmet Indian dishes, Babur serves up unique items like swordfish tikka masala and mango brulee, plus some creative cocktails inspired by Indian flavors.
Bona Pizzeria, Forest Hill
Switching gears to pizza, Bona Pizzeria in Forest Hill snagged the Best Pizza award at the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2024.
Since opening in 2015, they’ve been dishing out fresh Neapolitan pizzas and classic Italian desserts like tiramisu.
They even have vegan options with plant-based cheese and a nice selection of drinks.
Break the Fast, Catford
If breakfast is your jam, Break the Fast in Catford won a Blue Ribbon in the Cafes category at the Good Food Awards 2024.
They specialize in breakfast and brunch, offering everything from a full English to jerk chicken loaded fries and Turkish eggs.
Brockley’s Rock, Brockley
For classic fish and chips, Brockley’s Rock took home a Gold Seal at the Good Food Awards 2024.
Thanks to customer ratings, they’re now one of the top 60 chippies in the UK. They even have gluten-free options and grilled dishes for a lighter bite.
Dinner for One Hundred, Nunhead
Another pizza spot, Dinner for One Hundred in Nunhead, made it to the Times Top 50 Pizza Places in the UK list this year.
They offer a variety of pizzas, including gluten-free options, and their Giant Cheesy Garlic Bread is a must-try!
Dolce Desserts & Café, Catford
If you have a sweet tooth, check out Dolce Desserts & Café in Catford, which won Best Café at the Mayor of Lewisham Business Awards 2024.
Opened in 2021, they serve a delightful range of pastries and breakfast options like eggs royale and a tasty mozzarella, pesto, and tomato sandwich.
Gurkha’s, Sydenham
Gurkha’s in Sydenham also won at the Mayor of Lewisham Business Awards this year, serving up a mix of Indian and Nepalese dishes for over 20 years.
Panas Gurkha, Blackheath
Panas Gurkha in Blackheath was named Restaurant of The Year, London at the Asian Curry Awards 2024.
They opened their Lewisham branch in 2015 and have since expanded. Their menu features homestyle Nepali dishes, including the popular ‘Mum’s Chicken Curry’.
Quaggy’s Kitchen, Lee
If you’re craving Indian takeaway, Quaggy’s Kitchen in Lee won the Rider Love Award for Above & Beyond at the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2024.
Opened in September 2023, they serve authentic Indian dishes like tandoori and biryani, all crafted by chef Juel Miah.
The Real Turkish, Catford
For Turkish cuisine, The Real Turkish in Catford received a Special Commendation at the Mayor of Lewisham Business Awards 2024.
This family-run spot opened in 2023 and is known for its delicious shish kebabs, which pair perfectly with their Caribbean Breeze cocktail or milkshakes.
