London: So, Keir Starmer is really standing by his anti-corruption minister, Tulip Siddiq. She’s asked for an investigation into some properties tied to her family and her aunt’s political past in Bangladesh.

Apparently, Tulip lived in some flats linked to her aunt, Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted as Bangladesh’s prime minister last year. Starmer thinks she’s done the right thing by referring herself to the ethics watchdog.

He mentioned that it’s all about transparency and that he trusts her to clear things up. Tulip insists she hasn’t done anything wrong, but she’s staying in the UK to sort this out instead of heading to China with the Treasury.

Her aunt’s political troubles are pretty serious, with investigations back in Bangladesh. There are claims about some shady deals involving a nuclear power plant, and Tulip’s name has come up in that mess.

Reports say she used a flat in Hampstead that was given to her sister by a lawyer who worked with her aunt’s government. Another apartment in King’s Cross was also linked to her through a political associate.

In her letter to the standards watchdog, Tulip said she’s been misrepresented in the media and wants the facts to be established. She’s ready to provide all the info needed to clear her name.
