London: A former security guard at Heathrow Airport has sadly passed away due to an asbestos-related disease. His family is now looking for anyone who might have information about his exposure.

Thomas Longhurst, or Tom as his friends called him, died in February 2022 at the age of 73. He was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a type of cancer linked to asbestos, just a year before he passed away.

Tom worked at Heathrow from 1985 to 2016, mostly in Terminal 3. His family believes he might have been exposed to asbestos during maintenance and construction work that took place back in the 80s and 90s.

After his diagnosis, Tom had a tough few months filled with pain. He was a fit guy who loved cycling and sports, so his rapid decline was shocking for everyone who knew him.

His family is heartbroken and misses him dearly. They’re hoping that anyone who worked at Terminal 3 during that time can come forward with any details that might help them understand how Tom was exposed to asbestos.

Louisa Saville, a solicitor from Leigh Day, is working with the family to gather more information. She’s reaching out to anyone who might have insights into the construction work at Heathrow during those years.

If you have any information, you can reach out to Louisa at 0161 804 0761 or email her at Lsaville@leighday.co.uk. Every little bit helps the family in their search for answers.
