West Ham’s Graham Potter suggests a potential new centre-back signing is on the table as the team faces defensive challenges
London: So, Graham Potter is keeping the door open for a new centre-back at West Ham. The team is feeling the pinch with their current defensive lineup.
After a tough 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace, Potter mentioned they’re short on options. Konstantinos Mavropanos is out for a match due to a red card, and Jean-Clair Todibo is nursing a calf injury.
West Ham is already on the hunt for a striker this January, but Potter didn’t rule out adding a centre-back too. He said, “We’ve got a few challenges to fix.”
He’s looking at what’s available internally but knows they need to explore new options. Todibo’s injury is a concern, and he’ll be out for a while.
Potter also gave a nod to Crystal Palace for their solid performance. He felt his team looked a bit tired and couldn’t keep up with the pace of the game.
He said, “We were a little bit passive and looked a bit leggy.” It’s clear he’s trying to implement some new strategies, but it’s a work in progress.
In a bright spot, he brought on 18-year-old Lewis Orford for his debut, and he seemed to impress. Potter noted, “He’s impressed in training,” which is always good to hear.
Overall, it’s a challenging time for West Ham, but Potter is optimistic about finding solutions.
