Severe weather leads to travel disruptions across the UK this weekend
London: So, it looks like the UK is getting hit hard by some wild weather. Flights and ferries are being cancelled left and right because of strong winds. The Met Office has even put out yellow weather warnings for several areas, and they’re sticking around until Sunday night.
They’re predicting winds could reach up to 80mph in some spots, which is pretty intense. This could mean travel delays and even power outages for folks trying to get around this weekend. If you’re planning to travel, you might want to check the latest updates.
Heathrow Airport has already confirmed that a few flights were cancelled due to these strong winds and some airspace restrictions. They’re doing their best to keep things running smoothly, but it’s always a good idea to check with your airline before heading out.
And it’s not just flights; ferries are also affected. P&O Ferries announced that their routes between Larne and Cairnryan are off for at least 24 hours. They’re asking people not to head to the ports if their sailing is cancelled to avoid traffic jams.
CalMac, which runs ferries on Scotland’s west coast, has also had to cancel services on 21 of its routes. Plus, Northlink Ferries is seeing cancellations on its routes to the Orkney and Shetland isles. It’s a bit of a mess out there!
