Enzo Maresca reflects on Chelsea’s title chances after a recent win, emphasizing the team’s need for improvement despite closing the gap on Liverpool.
London: Enzo Maresca has shared his thoughts on Chelsea’s chances in the Premier League after they managed to close the gap on Liverpool. Despite a solid win against Brentford, he feels the team still has a long way to go.
In a recent match, Chelsea won 2-1, marking their fifth consecutive Premier League victory. They played well, leading 2-0 with goals from Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson. But a late goal from Brentford made things a bit tense.
Even with the win, Maresca pointed out that Chelsea’s inability to maintain control is a concern. He believes that teams aiming for the title shouldn’t be conceding goals like they did in the dying minutes of the game.
He said, “No matter how many games we are going to win, I think we are not ready to compete for the title.” He stressed that a title-winning team wouldn’t let a goal slip in such a crucial moment.
Maresca also mentioned that he would love to feel the pressure of a title race, but right now, he thinks they need to tighten up their defense. He’s hopeful about the return of injured players like Romeo Lavia and Joao Felix for their next match against Everton.
