Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca shares insights on Noni Madueke’s surprising absence during the team’s defeat to Fulham on Boxing Day
LONDON: So, Noni Madueke didn’t make the squad for Chelsea’s match against Fulham, and it raised a few eyebrows. Manager Enzo Maresca called it a “technical decision.”
It was a tough day for Chelsea, losing at home to Fulham, who hadn’t won there since 1979. They really turned things around in the last minutes, scoring two late goals.
Madueke had played just a week before, so it was surprising to see him left out. There were no injury concerns, and Maresca confirmed he was fit. When asked about it, he just said it was a “technical decision.”
This isn’t the first time Madueke has faced some tough love from Maresca. Earlier, he was benched against Aston Villa due to his training performance. Maresca pointed out that when Madueke starts to feel good, he tends to drop his intensity.
