Cruz Beckham responds to backlash about his music career and nepotism claims after releasing a teaser for his new song
London: Cruz Beckham is in the spotlight after some folks criticized him for his new song. The 19-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham shared a teaser for his track “For Ya Love” on Instagram, and it stirred up quite a debate.
People jumped in, accusing him of being a “nepo baby” and using his family’s fame to get ahead in music. One commenter even said, “Bet he had mega money and training.” Cruz didn’t take that lying down, though. He replied, “Not at all. Just a guitar.”
Things got a bit spicy when he added, “Jesus was also a nepo baby,” but he deleted that comment less than half a day later. It seems like he’s been trying to ease into the music scene for a while now, having played at a pub gig last December.
Interestingly, Cruz released a Christmas song back in 2016 when he was just 11. It got compared to Justin Bieber, but his music career didn’t really take off then. Now, he’s signed with C3, a management firm that’s worked with big names like The Strokes.
On top of that, Cruz is also facing some heat for dating Jackie Apostel, a Brazilian singer-songwriter who’s 29—10 years older than him. They were recently spotted enjoying a day at the beach in Rio, looking pretty cozy.
Jackie even defended him in the comments, saying, “Yeah those are some expensive fingers he bought,” in response to the criticism about his talent. They’ve been dating since June and have been seen together at various events.
Music definitely runs in the family, with Victoria being a former Spice Girl. Cruz has some support from other musicians too, like Danny Jones from McFly, who said his song “sounds sick.” But sadly, those supportive comments are now gone along with Cruz’s cheeky replies.
This isn’t the first time a Beckham has faced “nepo baby” accusations. His brother Brooklyn has been under fire for his photography and cooking pursuits. For Cruz, this is just the start of his journey in the music world.
