Chelsea’s title ambitions take a hit after a shocking home defeat to Fulham in the west London derby
London: Chelsea had a rough day at the office, losing 2-1 to Fulham at home. It was a big chance for them to close the gap at the top of the Premier League, but it slipped away.
For a while, it looked like Cole Palmer’s stunning goal early on would be enough. But in a dramatic finish, Fulham scored twice in the last ten minutes, leaving Chelsea four points behind Liverpool.
The coach made just one change from the last game, bringing back Marc Cucurella after his suspension. He replaced Axel Disasi in defense, hoping to shore things up.
Palmer’s goal was the highlight of the first half. He got the ball from Levi Colwill, danced around a couple of defenders, and slotted it home. It was a beauty!
Cucurella almost made it 2-0 before halftime, but his header was saved. Palmer had another chance, but a great block from Calvin Bassey kept it at 1-0.
In the second half, Fulham’s keeper, Bernd Leno, made a fantastic save against Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea had a goal ruled out for offside, which was a bummer.
As the game went on, Fulham started to find their rhythm. Alex Iwobi came close, and then Robert Sanchez had to rush out to stop Antonee Robinson.
When Fulham finally equalized, it felt deserved. Harry Wilson got a touch to send the ball into the net, and the momentum shifted.
Then, with just seconds left, Rodrigo Muniz scored the winner, sealing Fulham’s first victory at Stamford Bridge since 1979. What a turnaround!
