Chelsea’s narrow victory keeps them in the Premier League title hunt, just two points behind Liverpool after a thrilling match against Brentford
London: Chelsea pulled off a 2-1 win against Brentford, keeping their title hopes alive. Nicolas Jackson was the hero, scoring the winner.
With Liverpool drawing against Fulham, Chelsea had a chance to close the gap. They started strong but had to wait until just before halftime for the first goal.
Noni Madueke made a great play on the right, setting up Marc Cucurella to head in the opener. Chelsea could have scored again soon after, but Jackson missed a close-range chance.
That miss seemed to fire up Brentford. Chelsea’s keeper, Robert Sanchez, made some fantastic saves to keep them in the lead as Brentford pressed hard.
Jackson finally found the net again, making a great run to double Chelsea’s lead. But Brentford made it tense by scoring late, pulling one back through Bryan Mbeumo.
Despite the scare, Chelsea held on for their fifth straight win. Next up, they head to Goodison Park to face Everton, with a chance to go top of the table.
