Axis Educational Trust hosted a vibrant gala to celebrate its 30th anniversary with a talent show and awards for young achievers
North Finchley: The Axis Educational Trust just threw a fantastic party to celebrate its 30th anniversary. They held a talent show and gala that brought together around 400 people.
The event took place at the Arts Depot, and it was all about celebrating diversity and inclusion. It kicked off with a warm reception that set a friendly vibe for the night.
Among the guests were Barnet’s deputy mayor, Cllr Danny Rich, and other local leaders. Cllr Rich praised the trust for its amazing work in helping disadvantaged kids with education and mental health support.
He mentioned how the talent show was a great example of what young people can achieve, even when they don’t have the same advantages as others.
Young performers were recognized for their hard work in social action projects, showing off their resilience and accomplishments. The highlight of the night was the talent contest final, featuring 11 finalists who dazzled everyone with their music, dance, and performances.
Winners included Imogen Macambac, Sahana Nagusandar, Bentley Wood Glee Club, and Myla Williams, who took home prizes between £200 and £500.
The audience got to vote for their favorite acts, which made the night even more exciting. A panel of judges, including industry pros, helped decide the winners.
During the gala, the trust also honored its key partners with Partnership Excellence Awards, recognizing groups like Barnet Council and London Youth.
Trust chair Hakan Gokce reflected on the charity’s journey over the past 30 years, noting how it evolved from focusing on ethnic minorities to serving the whole community.
He also shared plans for the future, including a new youth hub in East Barnet. The event really highlighted the power of young people and the importance of community support.
