London: So, guess what? The creator of Call the Midwife, Heidi Thomas, just dropped some exciting news about Trixie. You know, the character played by Helen George? Yeah, she’s in for a big change!

The show, which started back in 2012, is based on Jennifer Worth’s books about her midwifery days in the East End during the ’50s. It’s been a hit and is sticking around until at least 2026!

Heidi revealed that Trixie will be juggling her life between Poplar and New York. Remember her husband, Matthew? He’s off trying to make it big in business over there.

At the end of the last season, Trixie was worried about their relationship. She even thought about moving to the States to be with him. But now, she’s got some new responsibilities back at Nonnatus House.

Heidi mentioned that Trixie will play a key role in a new management plan that helps keep things running smoothly at Nonnatus House. Sounds like she’s stepping up!

By the way, the new season will have eight episodes and will take us into the 1970s. The first episode is about a pregnant teen whose parents think her baby is a miracle. Can’t wait to see how that unfolds!

Mark your calendars! Call the Midwife is back on BBC One on January 5 at 8 PM. It’s going to be a good one!
