Brent Cross West station marks its first anniversary with a fun celebration, highlighting its impact on the community and daily commuters.
London: Brent Cross West station was buzzing with excitement as it celebrated its first birthday. There were games, activities, and even a birthday cake!
The celebration last Tuesday brought together commuters, local folks, and station staff. It was a great way to mark the opening of the station on December 10, 2023, which was a big deal since it was the first major mainline station to pop up in London in over a decade.
Local councillors Anne Clarke and Alan Schneiderman led the festivities, joined by Thameslink staff and the community. Everyone enjoyed the cake and fun activities on the concourse.
In just a year, the station has seen more than half a million journeys, averaging nearly 2,000 trips daily. It’s a crucial part of a huge redevelopment project that’s considered one of the most ambitious in Europe.
Councillor Alan Schneiderman, who represents Cricklewood, shared how the station has positively impacted the neighborhood. He mentioned it’s made getting around much easier and is helping the area move towards becoming a net zero borough. He’s thrilled to see it being embraced by the community.
Jenny Saunders, the customer services director at Thameslink, also chimed in, saying the first anniversary is a huge milestone for everyone involved in making this station a reality.
