Arsenal clinched a narrow victory over Ipswich, with Havertz’s goal lifting them to second in the Premier League as 2024 wraps up
London: Arsenal managed to scrape a 1-0 win against Ipswich, thanks to Kai Havertz’s goal. It wasn’t the most thrilling match, but it got the job done.
With this win, Arsenal jumped to second place in the Premier League. They bounced back nicely after losing Bukayo Saka to injury. It was a bit of a dull game, but hey, a win’s a win!
They controlled the game, holding 83% possession in the first half. But despite that, they struggled to create clear chances. Ipswich had a couple of moments, but nothing too dangerous.
Havertz scored his seventh goal of the season, tapping in a great cross from Leandro Trossard. Gabriel Jesus thought he had a second goal, but it was ruled offside. Typical, right?
In the second half, Ipswich had a brief spell where they looked dangerous, but Arsenal held firm. They had a few late chances to extend their lead but couldn’t find the back of the net again.
All in all, it was a solid way to end the year for Arsenal, even if it wasn’t the most exciting match. They’re now just six points behind Liverpool, who still have a game in hand.
