Eric Knowles’ surprise visit brought joy to residents, especially Sandy Morrison, who found his voice during the event
Mill Hill: A 95-year-old man who usually finds it tough to chat was all smiles when his favorite TV star from the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow paid a visit to his care home.
Sandy Morrison, who just moved into Aarandale Manor this year, was over the moon when antiques expert Eric Knowles showed up for a community valuation day.
Antiques Roadshow for nearly 40 years,” said Sandy’s daughter, Catherine Lomer. “It was amazing to see him so chatty with Eric, especially since talking can be hard for him.”
Among the guests was Barnet’s deputy mayor, Cllr Danny Rich, who joined around 45 others at the event held at Aarandale Manor on Holders Hill Circus.
Care home manager Kirsty Harris shared, “Seeing Sandy’s face light up when he met Eric was just wonderful. He was really engaged, and it was clear how much it meant to him.”
Eric even checked out an 1860s sewing machine brought in by staff from All Aboard charity shops, which he valued at about £100.
