Southern trains face cancellations and diversions this week due to engineering work, impacting travel plans for many passengers.
Brighton: So, here’s the scoop. This week, a bunch of Southern trains are getting cancelled, diverted, or swapped out for buses. It’s all because of some planned engineering work.
This work kicks off on January 6 and runs through January 10. If you’re planning to travel, you’ll want to keep this in mind.
From Monday to Friday, they’ll be doing overnight work between Brighton, Worthing, and Littlehampton. This means all lines will be closed until Friday morning.
During the week, from 11:45 PM until the last train, there will be replacement buses running between Brighton and Worthing or Littlehampton. So, if you’re heading that way, be prepared for a bus ride.
Also, trains from London Victoria to Littlehampton will be diverted to Brighton, where you can catch those replacement buses.
Oh, and if you’re on the 10:20 PM train from Southampton Central to Brighton, heads up! It won’t stop at Southwick or Portslade. You’ll need to change at Shoreham for a bus to Brighton that stops at those places.
Just a heads up, using those replacement buses will take longer than usual. So, plan accordingly!
There’s also some overnight engineering work happening between Hastings and Ashford International, which will close some lines until Friday morning.
From 10:30 PM until the end of service on Monday to Thursday, there will be replacement buses running between Hastings and Ore, as well as Rye and Ashford International.
Again, expect longer journey times with those buses. Just keep an eye on your travel plans this week!
