An 18-year-old was apprehended shortly after fatally stabbing a 15-year-old girl in Croydon, shocking the community and raising questions about youth violence.
Sentamu attacked Elianne with a kitchen knife after a dispute over belongings belonging to her friend. This all went down outside the Whitgift Centre on September 27. After the stabbing, he fled the scene, tossing the knife, which had Elianne’s DNA on it, before hopping on a bus toward his home.
Just before the attack, Elianne had recorded a Snapchat video. When police arrived, they found chaos—people screaming and running away. Officers tried to save her, but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sentamu, who was studying sports science, has admitted to manslaughter but denies murder, claiming he lost control due to his autism. He also argues he had a lawful reason for carrying the knife. The trial is ongoing, and the community is left reeling from this tragic event.
